Itinerary
Nov. 7th --- Arrive at San José Airport & Drive to Turrialba Valley! (Casa Turire Hotel): Welcome to Costa Rica!!!
From the San Jose airport, you will be transported to your first hotel by your private guide and driver. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will have a dinner/orientation where you will have a chance to meet the rest of the group and have a debriefing of the week ahead from your guide.
We ask that you arrive on an early afternoon flight to SJO San Jose no later than 1 pm. If you decide to come a day earlier, we can arrange to pick you up at your hotel, and group departure from San Jose SJO will be planned for 2 pm on arrival day. (Meals: Dinner)
Nov. 8th --- Canyoneering Waterfalls (Casa Turire Hotel):
Today is an unforgettable adventure and those that like adrenaline will be happy we are getting this trip started with canyoneering. If you are not familiar with canyoneering, we will be making our way down a canyon descending five different waterfalls of a total elevation of 450ft. Some of the waterfalls are higher than others, and between waterfalls are pools, rocks, water flowing, and just a jungle paradise from start to finish for those that love adventure and fun.
After we enjoy the canyoneering adventure, we will take you to one of our local spots for lunch, and in the afternoon, you can relax at the pool at the hotel and talk about where you want to make your next canyoneering trip!
In the evening, we have a special treat for you, taking you to dinner at the house of one of our guides, where you will learn how to make tortillas and enjoy some of the best and freshest food of the trip! (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)
Nov. 9th --- Raft Pacuare River to POC Lodge (POC Lodge):
Next stop, the Pacuare River, what we consider the most beautiful spot in Costa Rica. We will leave the hotel after breakfast and head to La Cruz near the town of Mollejones, where all the rafts, guides, and gear will be waiting for you.
Today’s rafting section will be classes II and III, getting you ready for the second day of rafting of classes III and IV. The water temperature is perfect, the scenery is outstanding, the guides are pros, and the day can not be any more perfect, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest from start to finish. Your lunch will be prepared for you by the river guides, and we take great pride in offering some of the most OK food in Costa Rica, not to mention we get it to the side of the river for you in a spread that rivals a cruise ship!
Then the day becomes a little more perfect, and that is because you will be staying at POC, which is the heart and soul of everything we do. Built with local labor and materials, the POC is everything you would expect in an ecolodge. Besides the feeling of glamping and not roughing it, you will be awe-inspired by the views at the POC. While you will only be staying two nights, we know a piece of POC will be staying with you forever as it truly is an unforgettable experience. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Nov. 10th --- Zipline, Tarzan Swing & Waterfall Nature Hike (POC Lodge):
After a good night’s sleep, you are ready to swing through the jungle. POC has made a name for itself with its epic Tarzan swing. This is for those looking for extreme adventure, and if you are not ready for it, we will warm you up with our zip line. Stretched over 3Km across the river canyon, POC’s zip line is where you find the best views anywhere of the majestic Pacuare Canyon.
After the zip line, we will test your adrenaline on the Tarzan swing. Here you will be hooked into a harness and released by our guides over a ravine and over the Pacuare River with a 60ft drop and a maximum height of 300ft! Another memory for a lifetime.
In the evening, you will have the chance to sit on the rocking chairs at POC, relax, enjoy the sounds of the river and hear the rainforest come to life at night. In addition, the POC guides can take you on a night hike to see one of the largest populations of wild red-eyed tree frogs anywhere in Costa Rica, as they call POC home.
While you are relaxing, the POC guides will be hard at work making another excellent meal for you, maybe some dance lessons, and a night at POC you will not forget! (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Nov. 11th ---Rafting Pacuare Canyon and Travel to Caribbean Coast (Almonds & Corals Hotel):
After breakfast, we will make our way down to the river and get ready for one of the top five single days of commercial rafting you will find anywhere on the planet. The famous Pacuare Canyon is filled with 200ft waterfalls cascading into the river, canyon walls that rise 300ft from the river’s edge, and primary rainforest from start to finish.
Oh, we almost forgot the infamous class IV rapids such as Huacas Arriba and Huacas Abajo, Dos Montanas, y Cimarrones!!! Today will be an action-filled day with a chance to enjoy the scenery in the often but for short pools between over 50 different rapids.
After we take out of the river, we will drive to the Caribbean where the next chapter of your adventure begins. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)
Nov. 12th --- SUPSurf Clinic (Almonds & Corals Hotel):
During the morning, visit the famous Punta Uva Beach voted globally as one of the most beautiful on the planet. Here we will have the SUP’s ready. We will have a morning clinic on SUPSurf and teach everyone the basics of catching a wave on a SUP.
In the afternoon, you will have time to relax, visit the local town of Puerto Viejo, which is a more vibrant area of the Caribbean. Here there is an Afro-Caribbean influence, and you will have the chance to visit shops, get a drink, or just enjoy the three beaches that make this unique town one of the best beach towns in Costa Rica.
It can not go without mentioning that the best part about this town is the famous Rice and Beans that is cooked with coconut mild by the locals.
In the evening, we can listen to live music in town, or there will be an option to head back to the hotel. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch )
Nov. 13th --- SUPSurf & Travel to San Jose (Airport Hotel):
During the morning you will have your last chance to visit the beach and have a morning in the water or just relax at the hotel. Our time at the beach you will have the option to pick up some more tips from our surf coaches and keep toning your skills on the SUPSurf boards.
We will have our farewell dinner at the hotel and reminisce on the good times and friends we made over the last week as we pack our minds and bags full of memories and Pura Vida! (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)
Nov. 14th --- Fly Home!:
Today you will be transferred to the San Jose (SJO) airport to arrive no less than two hours before your flight. The airport hotel is just 5 minutes from the San Jose (SJO) airport. (Meals: Breakfast )
